The Helmholtz Institute HI-TRON in Mainz is a collaboration of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) with the Johannes Gutenberg-University (JGU), the University Medicine Mainz (UM Mainz) and the non-profit TRON gGmbH (TRON). The aim of the partnership is to develop pioneering immunotherapies and identify new biomarkers for the effectiveness of the treatment.

The "Cellular Phenotyping Platform" at HI-TRON is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Technical Assistant / Laboratory Technician to support cutting-edge research in cellular phenotyping of the anti-tumor immune response. This position offers the opportunity to actively support and advance projects in cancer immunotherapy within a dynamic and collaborative academic environment.

YOUR TASKS

  • Actively contribute to the development, optimization, and validation of advanced single-cell phenotyping methods, including high-parameter spectral flow cytometry

  • Conduct assisted cell sorting

  • Ensure the maintenance of state-of-the-art cytometry instruments

  • Execute and analyse flow cytometry experiments from cancer patients or in vitro assays, including single cell preparation, flow cytometry staining, acquisition and analysis

  • Ensure thorough documentation of laboratory activities and adherence to quality standards

  • Provide technical expertise in cellular phenotyping to the HI-TRON scientific community

  • Manage the platform operations, including resource management, ordering, and inventory control

YOUR PROFILE

  • Successfully completed training as a technical assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA), biology laboratory assistant or comparable qualification

  • Proficiency in flow cytometry, including sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis; previous experience in a flow cytometry core facility or with spectral flow cytometry is an advantage

  • Experience with tissue digestion, cell isolation and cell culture

  • Proficient in laboratory management practices, including equipment maintenance and reagent organization

  • Strong teamwork ethic with a positive, proactive attitude and motivation to develop new skills

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills, GLP experience is advantageous

  • Ability to communicate effectively in German and English, both written and oral
