Clinician Scientist Fellowship for José Naveja

We are delighted to announce that Dr. José Naveja has been selected for the prestigious DKFZ Clinician Scientist Fellowship 2026 and will join HI-TRON Mainz as a Clinician Scientist Fellow for the next two years.

Based in the mRNA Cancer Immunotherapies Division led by Ugur Sahin, Dr. Naveja will conduct his research under the supervision of Deputy Head and Senior Scientist Dr. Alexandra Alves Duarte. He will develop bioinformatics and AI-driven methods for Molecular Tumor Boards (MTBs). The aim of the project is to efficiently analyze complex molecular and genomic data from cancer patients and support physicians in selecting personalized treatment options. Advanced artificial intelligence approaches will help translate molecular findings into clinical decisions more quickly, systematically, and accurately.

The DKFZ Clinician Scientist Fellowship is one of Germany’s leading programs for physician-scientists, providing protected research time, mentoring, and access to a strong national and international research network. Through this fellowship, Dr. Naveja will contribute to advancing precision oncology at the interface of clinical care and translational cancer research.
